How does Speed
Dating work?
·Once you have created your account and purchased your first speeddating ticket, you will receive an email from us confirming the
order and details about your chosen event.
·Now that you’re signed in, you can upload a photo of yourself.
This will help other speed daters to remember you after the event.
·Upon arrival at the speed dating event you will be assigned a
number from 1 – 20 by one of our hosts, who will also give you your
speeding ticket. This card is where you will take notes on other
speed daters, and will help jog your memory when you come to enter
your ticks after the event.
·At the start of the event, the host will ask everyone to take
their seats at their designated tables.
· The host will then ring a bell; let the speed dating commence!
You now have four minutes to wow your date with charm, jokes or
romance.
·After four minutes, the host will ring the bell again.
Congratulations, you have just finished your first speed date! You
will now be given a little time to take down the number of your
date, any thoughts you may have on them, and tick them if you felt a
spark.
·At the halfway point, there will be a short interval. This
will give you time to compose yourself and have a drink, as all of
these speed dates at once can be a little overbearing!
·Once you’ve speed-dated every guy or girl there, the host will
end the event. You are then free to mingle with the other speeddaters in the venue; perhaps share a drink and see if you can
get a few more of those sparks flying.
·
The next morning, you will receive an email or a text from us
to let you know that the speed dating event has been unlocked. You
are then free to enter your ticks on our website from the night
before and view the profile pictures of your dates. If you give
some
of your dates a second thought, then you can always go back and
enter more ticks.
·If
you tick a person and they also tick you, you will ‘match’ and a
text (or email, if you stated this as a preference while registering
with the site) will be sent to inform you. You will notified of
their phone number or email address and vice versa. From
there, it's over to you to get in touch, meet up and to have fun!
Who are Sparks to Flames?
The phone lines are manned by Kingsley and Sam who will help you
with any questions you have.
Do many people come on
their own?
Yes, about half of the people who attend are on their own and the
other half are in groups.
Our hosts will help you and chat you before the event begins, but
feel free to start chatting to the the other speed daters before the
event begins.
Can I bring a
friend along to the event?
As long as they don't actually take part in the speed dating (unless
you buy a ticket for them too) then all our events are usually held
in public bars, so there's no problem with somebody coming along to
give you moral support if you are nervous about coming on your own.
How do I buy
multiple tickets for groups?
At the bottom of the page there is an option to buy extra tickets
for friends. All you need to do then is add their name, gender and
either email or phone number.
We'll then send them an email or text with their login details so
that they can add their ticks the day after the event.
What does it cost?
Our events are generally priced between £18-25 depending on the part
of the country and the venue that we hire. This covers all emails
and texts that we send you and texts/emails to other speed daters
that you have ticked.
There are no subscription charges; all charges are one-offs per
event you book for and this is all you will ever be charged.
I'm
slightly older/younger than the age range, can I still come?
If it's a 20's evening and you are in your 40's then it's not going
to go down too well and it's not something we'd encourage. However
if you are within a few years of the suggested age range and you
feel comfortable with that, then it's up to you.
Can I
cancel?
As long as you let us know by calling us 7 days before the event is
due to start we will refund you in full, no quibble. Alternatively
we can move you to a future event if you wish.
